Dual 60A fast-recovery diode in an ISOTOP bolt-down package
The STTH120R04TV2 from STMicroelectronics packs two independent 60 A fast-recovery diodes in a single ISOTOP package rated for chassis-mount installation. Each diode handles a 400 V reverse voltage with an 80 ns reverse recovery time, making this part a candidate for high-frequency rectification stages in welding power supplies, induction heating, and uninterruptible power systems where switching losses dominate the thermal budget.
An 80 ns reverse recovery time at 60 A forward current places this diode in the fast-recovery class. In a hard-switched converter, that trr keeps the reverse-recovery charge low enough that the MOSFET or IGBT does not see a current spike at turn-off — the diode recovers before the switch voltage rises.
ISOTOP package — mounting and thermal path
The ISOTOP package is a bolt-down power module with a copper baseplate. Chassis mounting means the heatsink interface is the baseplate surface — thermal compound and a flat mounting surface are mandatory to get the junction-to-case thermal resistance the datasheet assumes. The two independent diodes share the same baseplate, so the total power dissipation from both diodes sums into one thermal path. The package ships in Tube; no reel or tray option.
