Forward drop and recovery — the two numbers that set the thermal budget
At 60 A forward current the maximum forward voltage is 1.25 V, which gives a per-diode conduction loss of 75 W at full rated current. The 70 ns reverse recovery time keeps the switching loss manageable at frequencies up to several tens of kHz — above that the recovery charge starts to dominate the junction temperature rise. The 120 µA reverse leakage at 300 V is a room-temperature figure; expect it to multiply with junction temperature, so the heatsink design should keep the case below 125 °C for reliable operation.
ISOTOP package — bolted-down thermal path for chassis-mount designs
The ISOTOP package is a large, screw-terminal module designed for direct bolting to a heatsink or chassis wall. The two diodes share the same baseplate (common cathode), so the thermal interface is a single greased pad or phase-change film. Chassis mounting means the part is intended for permanent installation in an enclosure — not a PCB solder-down. The tube shipping medium is fine for prototype or low-volume builds; production quantities typically come in bulk trays.
The base product number STTH12003 covers the family; the TV1 suffix denotes the specific voltage/package variant. For dual-sourcing resilience, the STTH12003TV2 is the same die in a different test-selection bin — functionally interchangeable in most designs, though the forward drop and recovery specs should be verified against the TV2 datasheet if swapping.
