600 V, 10 A fast recovery diode with 50 ns trr
The STTH10LCD06FP is a 600 V, 10 A fast recovery diode from STMicroelectronics, built with standard planar technology. Its 50 ns reverse recovery time (trr) places it in the fast-recovery class for hard-switching topologies like power-factor-correction boost stages, flyback converters, and output rectification in 400 VDC bus supplies.
The 50 ns trr at 10 A forward current cuts reverse-recovery charge compared to a standard 500 ns recovery diode. In a continuous-conduction-mode PFC boost running at 100 kHz, that trr directly reduces turn-on loss in the MOSFET and keeps the diode junction temperature lower for a given heatsink. The 175°C maximum junction rating gives additional headroom if the thermal interface is constrained. Forward voltage is specified at 2 V max at 10 A, 25°C. At full rated current the conduction loss is 20 W, so the TO-220FPAC isolated tab needs a heatsink sized for that dissipation — the full-pack case means no insulating pad is required, which simplifies assembly and improves thermal transfer to the heatsink.
Package and mounting — TO-220FPAC isolated tab
The TO-220-2 Full Pack (ST's TO-220FPAC) is a through-hole package with a fully isolated metal tab. No additional insulating washer or thermal pad is needed between the tab and the heatsink, which saves a BOM line and a manual assembly step. The 5 µA max reverse leakage at 600 V rated voltage is a room-temperature figure; leakage doubles roughly every 10°C above 25°C, so at 125°C junction expect leakage in the low hundreds of microamps — still manageable for a 10 A stage.
