60 V, 5 A Schottky in an axial DO-201AD
The STPS5L60 is a 60 V, 5 A Schottky barrier rectifier from STMicroelectronics in a through-hole DO-201AD axial package. It is designed for low-voltage, high-frequency rectification where low forward voltage drop and fast switching are needed. The 520 mV typical forward drop at 5 A keeps conduction losses down in power supply output stages, OR-ing diodes, and freewheeling paths. The 60 V reverse rating provides headroom for 48 V rails and flyback clamp circuits.
Forward drop and leakage — the efficiency trade-off
At 5 A forward current the maximum forward voltage is 520 mV, which is low for a 5 A Schottky in this package class. That directly reduces the heat sunk into the PCB or heatsink at a given load. Reverse leakage is specified at 220 µA at the full 60 V blocking voltage. In a hot junction environment (up to 150 °C max) leakage rises, so the designer should derate the reverse voltage or ensure adequate thermal management if the diode sees sustained reverse bias near the rating.
The through-hole DO-201AD package means this part is a fit for legacy board retrofits, point-of-load regulators, and power supplies where an axial leaded diode is already specified.
