30 V, 20 A per diode — the conduction loss story
The STPS41L30CG-TR is a dual Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, pairing two 20 A diodes with a common cathode in a single D2PAK package. The headline number is the forward voltage: 480 mV typical at 20 A per diode. That low Vf keeps conduction losses manageable in a 40 A total-output stage, which is the difference between a heatsink and a hot board.
Common-cathode pair — what it buys on the board
The 1-pair common-cathode configuration means the two anodes are independent, the cathodes tied together. That maps directly to a center-tapped secondary rectifier or a dual-output OR-ing stage — one package replaces two TO-220s and the shared cathode tab simplifies the copper pour.
30 V reverse — derating for real rails
Maximum reverse voltage is 30 V. For a 24 V bus, you want to check the peak ringing on the secondary before committing — a 30 V Schottky is comfortable on a 12 V rail with a standard snubber, but a 24 V supply with no clamp will push it into avalanche. Reverse leakage at 30 V is 1.5 mA, which rises with junction temperature and eats into the efficiency gain from the low Vf.
