100 V, 20 A common-cathode Schottky for power rectification
The STPS41H100CR is a 100 V, 20 A per diode Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, packaged as a common-cathode pair in a TO-262 (I2PAK) through-hole package.
Forward drop and thermal budget at 20 A
At 20 A forward current the maximum forward voltage is 800 mV, which translates to 16 W conduction loss per diode. The I2PAK package's exposed metal tab must be heatsunk — a 1.5 °C/W rated heatsink keeps the junction below the 175 °C maximum. Reverse leakage at 100 V is 10 µA typical, but expect an order-of-magnitude increase at 125 °C junction; the leakage contribution to self-heating is negligible below 150 °C.
Switching speed and recovery profile
Rated Fast Recovery ≤ 500 ns at forward currents above 200 mA. As a Schottky, the recovery is majority-carrier with no stored-charge tail, so the actual reverse recovery time is well under 50 ns in typical 100–500 kHz SMPS designs. The ≤ 500 ns spec covers the full temperature and current envelope and is not the limiting factor in most switching applications.
