Dual Schottky in a D2PAK — what the ratings mean for your power rail
The STPS41H100CG-TR is a dual Schottky rectifier in a common-cathode configuration, rated 100 V reverse and 20 A average rectified current per diode. The 800 mV forward drop at 20 A sets the conduction loss floor — at full tilt each diode dissipates 16 W, so the D2PAK's exposed tab needs a solid copper pour or heatsink to keep the junction below the 175 °C max. AEC-Q101 qualification means this part is screened for automotive reliability — the -40 °C to 175 °C junction range covers under-hood and transmission-oil environments, and the 10 µA reverse leakage at 100 V keeps standby drain low enough for OR-ing diodes in battery-backed systems.
Package and mounting — hand-solderable with a thermal plan
The D2PAK (TO-263-3) is a surface-mount package with a large exposed tab on the bottom. The tab is the cathode common terminal, so the PCB copper pour under it serves double duty as the main current path and the heatsink. The tab can be hand-soldered with a hot-air station or a large-tip iron — the 0.5 mm standoff gives enough clearance for flux cleaning. The Tape & Reel variant (STPS41H100CG-TR) is the pick-and-place friendly option; the tube variant (STPS41H100CG) exists for smaller runs. Both share the same die and ratings.
