60 V, 20 A per diode — the conduction loss floor
The forward voltage is 595 mV typical at 20 A, which sets the conduction loss per diode — at full rated current each diode dissipates roughly 12 W, so the TO-220 package's thermal path to the heatsink is the limiting factor.
Fast recovery — <500 ns
The fast recovery rating (<500 ns at >200 mA) means the diode switches off quickly after forward conduction, reducing reverse-recovery losses in a switching converter. This matters for designs running above 50 kHz where a standard rectifier's stored charge would cause excessive heating.
Through-hole TO-220 — thermal design matters
The TO-220-3 package (through-hole) requires a heatsink for continuous operation above a few amps. The supplier device package is TO-220; the tab is the cathode common connection. The 110 µA reverse leakage at 60 V rises with junction temperature — budget derating if the heatsink keeps the junction below the 150°C maximum.
