Sourcing and lifecycle reality for this Schottky
The STPS3150UY is an active-production Schottky rectifier in ST's Q Automotive series, qualified for automotive-grade applications with a 175°C junction temperature ceiling. The 150 V reverse voltage and 3 A average forward current suit it for output rectification in DC-DC converters and freewheeling diodes in motor-drive circuits where the load sees repetitive reverse bias. Forward voltage is 820 mV typ at 3 A — the conduction loss at full rated current is about 2.5 W, which the SMB package must dissipate through the board copper. The 2 µA reverse leakage at 150 V is a room-temperature figure; at 125°C junction it rises significantly, so derate the reverse voltage in high-temperature environments.
Package and integration fit
DO-214AA (SMB) is a standard surface-mount package with a 0.208-inch body width, compatible with reflow soldering. The cathode is marked on the body; the copper pad under the cathode tab should be connected to the output rail with sufficient thermal vias to keep the junction below 175°C at 3 A continuous. Available in Tape & Reel or Cut Tape — the reel quantity is standard for SMB. ROHS3 compliant, no exemption for lead in solder.
