The fast recovery speed — under 500 ns at >200 mA — means it handles switching frequencies well above line frequency without significant reverse-recovery losses, though the Schottky barrier inherently has negligible stored charge compared to a PN diode.
Board-fit and reflow considerations
The D2PAK footprint (TO-263-3, two leads plus tab) is a standard surface-mount power package. The exposed copper tab on the bottom is the anode connection and the primary thermal path — the PCB layout should have a thermal pad with vias to inner copper planes to pull heat away from the junction. The tape-and-reel packaging suits high-volume pick-and-place assembly.
