60 V, 15 A per diode — the forward drop and the thermal limit
The STPS30H60CT is a dual-Schottky rectifier in a common-cathode configuration, rated 60 V reverse and 15 A average per diode (30 A total for the pair). Forward voltage is 660 mV typical at 15 A, which keeps conduction losses under 10 W per diode at full load — a TO-220 with a modest heatsink handles that junction-to-case delta. The 175°C maximum junction temperature is higher than the usual 150°C Schottky limit, giving thermal headroom in a cramped power supply where the heatsink is undersized or airflow is restricted.
Package and mounting — the tab is live
Through-hole TO-220-3 with the tab as the common cathode. If the heatsink is chassis-grounded, an isolated mounting kit (mica washer + shoulder washer) is needed — the tab carries the full output current and is not electrically neutral. The supplier device package is TO-220; the base part number is STPS30, so this shares the same lead frame and die-attach as other 30 A STPS variants.
Reverse leakage — the hidden thermal contributor
Reverse leakage is 60 µA at 60 V and 25°C. Schottky leakage doubles roughly every 10°C, so at 125°C junction the leakage current climbs into the milliampere range, adding to the self-heating. Design the thermal budget with the hot leakage, not the 25°C number.
