Common-cathode Schottky pair for 45 V rails
The 570 mV forward voltage at 15 A sets the conduction loss that drives the heatsink selection. The TO-247-3 through-hole package handles the thermal mass for continuous operation up to 200°C junction temperature.
Conduction loss and heatsink sizing
At 15 A forward current the typical Vf is 570 mV, which means each diode dissipates about 8.6 W in conduction alone. For a 30 A total load (15 A per leg) the pair dissipates ~17 W — the TO-247 tab needs a heatsink with a thermal resistance low enough to keep the junction below 200°C at the expected ambient. The 200 µA reverse leakage at 45 V is a secondary contributor to self-heating, but it rises with temperature and should be factored into the thermal budget at high ambients.
Package and mounting note
The common-cathode configuration means the two cathodes are internally tied to the tab — the tab is electrically live at the cathode potential, so an insulating pad or thermal interface material is required if the heatsink is grounded.
