100 V, 2 A Schottky — what the ratings mean for your power rail
The STPS2H100U is a 100 V, 2 A Schottky rectifier in the SMB (DO-214AA) package. The 100 V reverse voltage covers 48 V telecom rails and 24 V industrial buses with margin, while the 2 A average forward current suits secondary-side rectification in medium-power AC-DC converters or freewheeling diodes in low-current motor drives. Forward voltage is 790 mV max at 2 A — this sets the conduction loss floor. At 2 A, the diode dissipates roughly 1.6 W; the SMB package's junction-to-ambient thermal resistance must keep the junction below the 175 °C absolute maximum.
Reverse leakage and junction temperature — the thermal trade-off
Reverse leakage is 1 µA at 100 V, 25 °C. Like all Schottky diodes, leakage roughly doubles every 10 °C rise. At 125 °C junction, expect leakage around 64 µA — still manageable but adds to the thermal budget in high-ambient enclosures. The 175 °C maximum junction temperature allows operation in hot environments — under-hood automotive or industrial cabinet — but the designer must derate the forward current above 100 °C per the datasheet curve.
