100 V, 2 A Schottky in a DO-41 axial package
The STPS2H100 is a 100 V, 2 A Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics in a through-hole DO-41 axial package. It is a standard-recovery Schottky diode, not a fast-recovery type — the 'Fast Recovery =< 500ns' spec line is a catalog classification for rectifiers above 200 mA, not a switching-speed claim. The part is intended for low-to-medium power rectification, freewheeling, and polarity protection in power supplies, adapters, and DC-DC converters where the 2 A average current and 100 V blocking voltage fit the rail.
At 2 A forward current the maximum forward voltage is 860 mV. That is a typical figure for a 100 V Schottky in this current class — higher than a 40 V Schottky, but necessary for the 100 V blocking capability. The reverse leakage is specified at 1 µA at 100 V, which is low for a Schottky and helps keep standby losses down. The junction temperature ceiling of 175°C gives headroom in hot environments, but the leakage current rises exponentially with temperature, so the thermal design should account for the leakage at the operating junction temperature, not just at 25°C.
DO-41 axial — rework-friendly but layout matters
The DO-41 axial package is a through-hole part with leads that bend to fit the board. It is easy to hand-solder and rework — a hot-air station or soldering iron lifts it without trouble, and the cathode band is clearly marked on the body. The trade-off is board space: the axial body and bent leads take up more area than a surface-mount equivalent, and the lead diameter needs a plated through-hole with adequate annular ring. For new designs, a surface-mount Schottky in SMA or SMB might save space, but for repair, retrofit, or low-volume builds the DO-41 is a practical choice.
