Product details

Low Vf conduction loss in a compact SOD-123F footprint

The STPS1L40ZF is a 40 V, 1 A Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics in the SOD-123F surface-mount package. Its 500 mV maximum forward voltage at 1 A keeps conduction losses low in low-voltage power rails — a key parameter for OR-ing diodes, reverse-polarity protection, and freewheeling clamps in 3.3 V and 5 V supplies. The 35 µA reverse leakage at 40 V is typical for a 40 V Schottky. That leakage doubles roughly every 10°C above 25°C, so at 125°C junction it approaches several mA — account for this in standby power budgets for hot environments.

Junction temperature range and switching speed

Rated for -40°C to 175°C junction temperature, the STPS1L40ZF covers automotive under-hood and industrial ambient conditions without derating at the high end. The fast recovery spec (≤500 ns, >200 mA) is sufficient for switching frequencies up to several hundred kHz in low-voltage DC-DC converters — the recovery charge is low enough that switching losses stay manageable at moderate frequencies.
