40 V, 1 A Schottky — the automotive-grade rectifier for low-forward-drop rails
The STPS1L40AY is an automotive-grade Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics' Q Automotive series, rated 40 V reverse voltage and 1 A average forward current in a DO-214AC (SMA) surface-mount package. Its key spec for the BOM is the 500 mV maximum forward voltage at 1 A — that 0.5 V drop at rated current is the conduction-loss floor you budget for in a 1 A rail. The 35 µA reverse leakage at 40 V is the ceiling; at elevated junction temperatures leakage climbs, so the thermal design needs headroom.
Junction temperature range and the SMA thermal path
For a 1 A continuous load at 500 mV Vf, expect about 0.5 W dissipation; the SMA can handle that with adequate board copper, but derate above 100°C junction.
Active production, AEC-Q101 qualified
The Q-series suffix signals AEC-Q101 qualification, so this part is released for automotive PPAP submissions and production. ROHS3 compliant.
