100 V, 1 A fast-recovery Schottky for power rectification
The STPS1H100A is a 100 V, 1 A Schottky rectifier from STMicroelectronics, rated for fast recovery under 500 ns at forward currents above 200 mA. This speed rating moves it beyond a standard Schottky into territory suited for high-frequency rectification in PFC stages, flyback secondaries, and output OR-ing in 48 V telecom or 24 V industrial supplies.
Forward drop and thermal budget
Maximum forward voltage is 770 mV at 1 A — the conduction loss at full rated current is about 770 mW. In a DO-214AC (SMA) package, the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance depends heavily on the copper pad area on the PCB; a 1-inch² pad can drop RthJA by 30–40 % compared to a minimal land pattern. The junction is rated to 175 °C max, so the thermal design must keep the junction below that ceiling under worst-case ambient and load.
Reverse leakage at the voltage ceiling
Reverse leakage is specified at 4 µA at 100 V. This is a room-temperature figure; Schottky leakage rises exponentially with junction temperature, so at 125 °C junction the leakage may climb to hundreds of microamps. For designs that idle at high ambient or near the voltage rating, the leakage contribution to the thermal budget should be checked at the operating temperature.
