That combination puts it in the medium-voltage, high-current class — suited for DC-DC converters, motor drives, and power switching in 48 V or 60 V bus systems where conduction loss is the primary concern.
TO-220FP — the isolated full-pack variant
The STP75NF75FP uses the TO-220 Full Pack (TO-220FP) package, which is the fully isolated, no-metal-tab version of the standard TO-220. The mounting hole is the same, but the back of the package is molded epoxy — no exposed drain tab. That is roughly one-third of what the standard TO-220 version of the same die would handle. If your design relies on the tab for heatsinking, the full-pack variant changes the thermal budget significantly.
The 175°C maximum is the absolute limit at the junction, not the case — the 45 W package dissipation at Tc means real-world current derating starts well below 80 A once the case temperature rises above 25°C.
