ST lists the STP75NF68 as Obsolete. No last-time-buy window or successor part appears in the official record. For existing BOM lines, the procurement path is the surplus and independent-distribution channel — new-old-stock or verified pulls. Any new design should select a current-production N-channel MOSFET in TO-220 with similar or better Rds(on) and voltage rating.
The 68 V Vdss gives 13.6 % derating on a nominal 48 V bus and about 30 % on a 48 V battery charger output. If your rail is 60 V nominal, this part is marginal — look for an 80 V or 100 V device. The 80 A continuous rating is a package-and-silicon limit at 25°C case; at 100°C case temperature the current must be derated per the datasheet SOA curve (not reproduced here). The 14 mOhm Rds(on) at 10 V gate drive means about 0.56 W conduction loss at 40 A — manageable with a small heatsink.
