16 MHz core and memory sizing for firmware fit
The 16 MHz clock is the maximum for this device; at lower supply voltages the internal PLL may need wait-state adjustments, but the core is designed for single-cycle execution on most instructions. The 16 KB Flash is adequate for moderate firmware stacks — think sensor polling loops, communication protocol handlers, and state machines. The 2 KB SRAM limits buffering: a full 1 KB frame for a display or a 512-byte BLE packet leaves little headroom, so DMA transfers (supported via the peripheral set) should be used to move data without CPU intervention. The 1 KB EEPROM is rated for 100k erase/write cycles typical of the STM8L family, enabling wear-leveled parameter storage across the product lifetime.
Integrated ADC and DAC for sensor-front-end designs
The 18-channel 12-bit ADC covers a wide range of analog inputs — enough for multi-sensor arrays like temperature, humidity, and pressure on a single chip. The 12-bit DAC can output a reference voltage or drive an analog actuator directly, eliminating an external DAC in cost-sensitive BOMs.
Brown-out detect, power-on reset, and a watchdog timer are built in, reducing external supervisory ICs. An internal oscillator is available, though an external crystal can be used for tighter timing.
