The 4 KB Flash is tight — think sensor polling, simple control loops, or a communication bridge over I²C or UART. You are not fitting a USB stack or a real-time OS in there. The 256 bytes of EEPROM are handy for calibration constants or configuration that survive a power cycle without wearing the Flash.
18 I/O and on-chip peripherals in a 20-pin TSSOP
The 20-TSSOP package gives you 18 general-purpose I/O lines — enough for a handful of sensors, a small character LCD, or a few pushbuttons and LEDs.
