Memory complement: embedded EEPROM saves a separate part
The 2 KB EEPROM on the STM8AF62A8TDY is a genuine differentiator for automotive body electronics. Calibration tables, VIN fragments, fault counters, and trim values live in EEPROM without an external serial memory chip — saving a footprint and one supply rail. The 128 KB Flash holds mid-complexity firmware for a LIN node or a local actuator controller; 6 KB RAM handles a modest stack and a few frame buffers. The 24 MHz clock is the upper speed bin in the STM8A family, so timing margin for 20 kbaud LIN messages and PWM generation at a few kilohertz is comfortable.
The 39 I/O are spread around all four sides, so a fan-out via pattern under the body is not required — the outer-row traces escape directly. No exposed thermal pad, so junction-to-ambient thermal management relies on copper pour and airflow rather than a pad via stitch.
