24 MHz core, 128 KB Flash — sizing the application fit
The 24 MHz clock rate is typical for the STM8A value line — enough for real-time CAN message handling, sensor polling at 1 kHz loops, and local actuation logic. The 128 KB Flash (128K x 8) and 6K x 8 RAM are sized for a single CAN node running a body-control or gateway firmware image with room for a modest bootloader. The 2K x 8 EEPROM in the memory map is useful for calibration constants and fault codes that survive resets without external storage.
48-LQFP and the board-level fit
The 48-LQFP package is a 0.5 mm pitch, 7 mm x 7 mm body — a common footprint shared across the STM8AF52xx density options. If you are replacing a failed unit on an existing board, the mechanical fit is the same as the STM8AF52A8TAx or STM8AF52A9Tx variants in the same package. The 38 I/O count includes the 10-bit ADC inputs and the CAN/LIN transceiver control pins. Surface-mount only; no through-hole option exists for this package.
