The official STM8A series includes many pin-compatible Flash and RAM densities; a migration path within the family is the most straightforward option, but no specific successor order code is published in the lifecycle record.
24 MHz, 64 KB Flash, CAN – sizing the part for the job
The 24 MHz core speed is typical for 8-bit automotive MCUs – enough to handle a CAN message loop, LIN slave protocol, and a few control loops without external clock management (the internal oscillator is on-chip). The 64 KB Flash is sized for mid-complexity firmware: a CAN stack, bootloader, and application code fit without external memory. The 6K x 8 RAM is the tighter resource; if your application buffers multiple CAN messages or runs a real-time OS with several tasks, verify the RAM footprint early. The 10-channel 10-bit ADC is adequate for monitoring analogue sensors (temperature, position, voltage) but not for high-resolution measurement.
