80 MHz vs 32 MHz — the delta to the STM32L1 family
The STM32L475RGT6 runs at 80 MHz, more than double the 32 MHz of the STM32L151CBU6A. The core architecture jumps from Cortex-M3 to Cortex-M4, adding a single-cycle multiply-accumulate and a hardware FPU.
64-LQFP footprint and board-level handling
No exposed pad — all thermal dissipation goes through the leads, so keep the ambient airflow in mind if the part is running near its 85°C max. Supply decoupling: a 100 nF ceramic per VDD pair plus a 4.7 µF bulk cap on the main rail is the usual starting point. The internal oscillator is available, but for CAN or USB operation an external crystal is strongly recommended for jitter margin.
