80 MHz Cortex-M4 — the speed jump that matters for low-power designs
The STM32L451CCU6TR is an STMicroelectronics STM32L4 series microcontroller built around an ARM Cortex-M4 core with FPU, clocked at 80 MHz. The 48-pin UFQFPN package (7x7 mm, exposed pad) keeps the board area tight, with 38 I/Os routed out.
The 256 KB Flash is split across two banks, enabling read-while-write for OTA updates if the application fits in one bank. 160 KB of SRAM supports a full Ethernet or CANopen stack buffer, a graphics frame buffer for a small display, or dual audio buffers for a voice trigger.
Connectivity and analog — what the 48-pin package still fits
Despite the compact 48-pin package, the STM32L451CCU6TR brings out CANbus, I²C, SPI, UART/USART, QSPI, and SAI — enough for a sensor hub with a CAN gateway, or an audio pipeline with I²S over SAI. The 10-channel 12-bit ADC and single 12-bit DAC cover analog front-end needs without an external converter. Brown-out detect, DMA, and a PWM timer set are included as peripherals.
