The 80 MHz Cortex-M4 with single-cycle multiply and floating-point unit handles signal processing loops that would stall a Cortex-M3. Connectivity includes CANbus, USB, I²C, SPI, QSPI, SAI (serial audio interface), and UART/USART with LIN and IrDA support. The QSPI interface lets you attach external flash or RAM for data logging or over-the-air update staging without bit-banging. The 10-channel 12-bit ADC and dual 12-bit DAC serve analog front-ends — sensor conditioning, audio output, or control-loop feedback. With 26 I/O lines in a 32-pin package, every pin carries multiple multiplexed functions. The peripheral allocation needs careful mapping early in the design — you cannot run all interfaces simultaneously on this pin count.

The datasheet's thermal resistance figures assume a specific PCB copper area; a layout without the pad connected will hit the 85°C limit sooner under continuous load.
