80 MHz Cortex-M4 with DSP and FPU

The STM32L412C8T6: Built around an ARM Cortex-M4 core running at 80 MHz, this MCU includes a single-precision floating-point unit and DSP instructions. The 80 MHz clock rate sets the throughput ceiling for real-time control loops and signal processing — a sensor fusion algorithm or motor-control FOC loop runs without a separate DSP. The 64 KB on-chip Flash and 40 KB SRAM leave headroom for a typical sensor-node firmware stack (RTOS, HAL, application code) without external memory. The 40 KB SRAM is enough to buffer several seconds of audio or a full frame of image data from a low-resolution camera.

Supply range and connectivity for battery-powered nodes

The internal oscillator and brown-out detect keep the system stable across the full range. Connectivity includes I²C, SPI, Quad SPI, USART/UART, and USB — enough to interface with external sensors, displays, wireless modules, or a host PC. The 10-channel 12-bit ADC samples analog inputs (temperature, pressure, battery voltage) without an external converter. The internal DMA can move ADC results directly to SRAM, keeping the CPU free for control tasks.
