Package and rework reality
The STM32F746IGK7: 176+25 UFBGA — 201 balls on a 10x10 mm footprint. Fine-pitch BGA requires controlled-impedance stackup and solder-mask-defined pads.
Industrial temperature range — where it lives
Rated -40°C to 105°C, this MCU is built for environments where the PCB sees thermal cycling: outdoor telecom cabinets, motor-drive enclosures, engine-bay controllers. The 105°C upper limit means the part can sit next to a power stage or a switching regulator without needing a dedicated cooling channel. At the cold end, the internal oscillator and the Flash read path are characterised down to -40°C, so no external crystal is required for a cold-start — the internal oscillator handles it.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Marked end-of-life (hot) in the lifecycle record. ST has stopped taking new orders; the part is no longer shipping from the factory.
What the peripheral set covers
The connectivity list is broad: CANbus, Ethernet MAC, USB OTG, multiple SPI and I²C, plus an SPDIF-Rx interface for digital audio. The 140 I/O pins in the UFBGA package give you enough headroom to drive a parallel RGB LCD (up to 24-bit) alongside a touch controller and an external memory bus. The 24-channel 12-bit ADC and the two 12-bit DACs cover analog front-end tasks like current sensing or audio output without an external codec.
