The internal oscillator and brown-out reset reduce external BOM count for a low-cost control board in a ventilated enclosure.
For a new design this means no forced redesign horizon from the manufacturer side. The laser etch on the top mark should show a consistent date-code font and no evidence of sanding or re-marking — the 48-LQFP is a common target for gray-market relabeling, so verify the package marking matches ST's factory format if buying from a non-franchised channel.
