What this STM32F303R6T6 brings to a control board
The 64-LQFP package gives you 51 usable I/O, plus a 15-channel 12-bit ADC and a single 12-bit DAC, so it fits mixed-signal applications without an external converter.
The 72 MHz core with hardware FPU handles single-cycle MAC operations, which matters for FOC motor control or digital power-loop compensation. The flash wait state needs bumping to 1 before you cross about 48 MHz, or the first branch after a tight loop hard-faults — standard Cortex-M4 practice. The internal oscillator gets you running, but for CAN or precision timing you will want an external crystal on the HSE pins.
Supply rails and decoupling
The 64-LQFP has a central ground paddle — make sure your PCB layout includes a via stitch under the package to pull heat out if the part draws more than 100 mA continuous.
