STM32F103ZDH6 – 72 MHz Cortex-M3 with 384 KB Flash in a 144-BGA
The STM32F103ZDH6 is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller from STMicroelectronics' STM32F1 series, clocked at 72 MHz with 384 KB of Flash program memory and 64 KB of RAM.
The 72 MHz Cortex-M3 delivers single-cycle multiply and hardware divide, which translates to deterministic interrupt latency for time-critical tasks like field-oriented motor control or CANopen frame processing. With 384 KB of Flash you can hold a full application stack including a real-time OS, communication protocol stacks, and application code without external memory. The 64 KB RAM provides enough headroom for double-buffered ADC results and communication buffers in a typical drive or I/O module design.
The on-chip motor-control PWM timers with dead-time insertion and emergency stop inputs reduce external logic, while the CAN 2.0B interface connects directly to industrial fieldbus backbones. The 21-channel 12-bit ADC covers multi-sensor acquisition without an external multiplexer.
144-LFBGA package – board integration notes
The 144-ball LFBGA measures 10x10 mm. This BGA footprint requires a minimum four-layer PCB with microvia or blind-via capability for fanout.
