1 MB Flash, 80K RAM — the high-density STM32F1 value-line MCU
The STM32F101VGT6 provides 1 MB of Flash and 80K x 8 of SRAM, with a 36 MHz core clock. The 100-LQFP package (14x14 mm body) brings out 80 I/O lines, enough to interface with a parallel LCD, a keypad matrix, and a handful of external peripherals without a port expander. On-chip peripherals include DMA, multiple PWMs, a temperature sensor, and a watchdog timer — the usual STM32F1 complement for autonomous operation.
The series is well-established, with a broad installed base and multiple package/density variants sharing the same Cortex-M3 core and peripheral set.
Pin-compatible sibling — STM32F101VBT6
Both parts share the 100-LQFP package and the same pinout, but the VBT6 carries 128 KB of Flash versus the VGT6's 1 MB. If the firmware fits in 128 KB and the extra RAM is not needed, the VBT6 is a lower-cost alternative. If the design already uses the VGT6's full 1 MB, the VBT6 is not a functional substitute — the memory map and sector layout differ.
