Core architecture and memory map
The STM32F100R8T7B is a 32-bit microcontroller built around the ARM Cortex-M3 core, clocked at 24 MHz. This core delivers a balance of processing throughput and low power for control-loop and sensor-fusion tasks. On-chip memory comprises 64 KB of Flash for program storage and 8 KB of SRAM for data and stack, organized as 8K x 8. The 64 KB Flash is adequate for moderate firmware images; the 8 KB SRAM supports a typical RTOS kernel plus a few communication buffers.
I/O and peripheral set
51 general-purpose I/O lines are available in the 64-LQFP package, enough to interface with a keypad, a small TFT display over parallel bus, and several sensors without an external GPIO expander. The LIN interface makes this part a fit for automotive body-control modules such as window lifts or seat adjusters that communicate on a LIN cluster. Additional on-chip blocks include DMA for memory-to-peripheral transfers without CPU load, a programmable watchdog timer, and a temperature sensor. The PVD (programmable voltage detector) and POR/PDR circuits handle brown-out and power-on reset internally.
Package and board integration
Housed in a 64-lead LQFP with a 10x10 mm body and 0.5 mm pitch. The part is ROHS3 compliant, so no special handling for lead-free solder is required.
