48 MHz core — timing closure and task throughput
The STM32F091CCU6TR: At 48 MHz the Cortex-M0 executes most single-cycle instructions, so interrupt latency stays low enough for 10–20 kHz control loops and UART bit-banging without a dedicated timer. The flash wait state must be set to 1 before raising the core clock above 24 MHz, or the first branch after a reset will hard-fault. For designs that need deterministic response, the DMA and I²S peripherals offload data movement from the core.
For dual-sourcing resilience, the base product number STM32F091 covers multiple density and package variants within the same family, so a pin-compatible upgrade path exists if future firmware needs more Flash or RAM.
