The STL40DN3LLH5 is a dual N-channel MOSFET from ST's STripFET™ V trench-gate family, rated for 30 V drain-source and 40 A continuous drain current per channel at 25 °C case temperature. The 4.5 nC typical gate charge at 4.5 V means the gate driver sees a light capacitive load; switching at 100 kHz the average gate drive current is under 0.5 mA. This low Qg also keeps the crossover conduction interval short, reducing shoot-through losses in a half-bridge topology.
175 °C junction — thermal headroom for tight enclosures
Rated for continuous junction temperature from -55 °C to 175 °C, the STL40DN3LLH5 can sit in an engine bay, an industrial motor drive cabinet, or a sealed power supply without derating the current below 40 A until the case temperature exceeds 100 °C. The 475 pF input capacitance at 25 V drain-source is low enough that the gate driver does not need a pre-driver stage for most PWM frequencies up to 200 kHz.
