950 V N-channel in the I2PAKFP — what the ratings mean
The STFI15N95K5 is an N-channel MOSFET from ST's MDmesh K5 series. Its 950 V drain-source rating (Vdss) suits offline power-conversion applications.
The 7.5 A continuous drain current is specified at 25°C case temperature; above 100°C junction the current must be derated per the datasheet's SOA curve, and the 30 W power dissipation ceiling becomes the binding constraint in a real enclosure.
Gate drive and switching parasitics
Gate charge totals 30 nC at 10 V drive — modest for a 950 V device, which keeps the driver burden low in a 100 kHz hard-switched converter. Input capacitance is 855 pF at 10 V drain bias; the switching speed is set by the gate-drive source impedance and the external gate resistor. The ±30 V Vgs max gives headroom for gate-drive overshoot during fast turn-on edges.
ST lists the STFI15N95K5 as obsolete.
