Gate drive and switching profile
The STD64N4F6AG: These numbers define the gate-driver current needed for a target switching frequency: a 100 kHz hard-switched converter drawing 44 nC per cycle requires 4.4 mA average from the driver, plus the peak current to charge the capacitance during the Miller plateau. The 10 V drive voltage is the recommended rail for minimum Rds(on); the gate is rated ±20 V absolute maximum. The threshold voltage maximum is 4.5 V at 250 µA drain current. This leaves margin above a 5 V logic-level gate drive but requires a full 10 V rail to reach the specified on-resistance. A gate-driver IC with a bootstrap or charge-pump supply is typical for this class of MOSFET in a half-bridge topology.
