188 V standoff — rail protection for 150 V–200 V DC buses
Clamping voltage and breakdown window
The device triggers at a minimum breakdown of 209 V and clamps the transient to a maximum of 388 V at the rated peak pulse current of 26 A (8/20 µs). This 179 V window between standoff and clamp gives the designer margin to protect downstream semiconductors rated for 400 V or higher, while keeping the normal rail at 188 V well below the avalanche threshold.
DO-214AB SMC footprint and temperature range
Housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the SMCJ188A-TR fits standard reflow profiles and shares a footprint with other 1500 W SMC TVS diodes.
