TVS clamp for 12V rails — 1500 W surge rating
Breakdown and clamping — the protection window
The minimum breakdown voltage is 13.3 V, which sits 1.3 V above the 12 V reverse standoff — enough margin to avoid nuisance triggering from normal rail ripple and load transients. Maximum clamping at the 394 A peak pulse current (8/20 µs) is 25.3 V, so downstream components rated for 30 V or higher see a safe voltage envelope.
STMicroelectronics lists the SMCJ12A-TR as Active (current production).
