What this TVS diode protects and how it clamps
It delivers 600 W peak pulse power per the 10/1000 µs waveform, with a breakdown voltage minimum of 13.3 V and a maximum clamping voltage of 19.9 V at 31 A peak pulse current. The single bidirectional channel protects both polarities from a single DO-214AA (SMB) package, simplifying layout for AC-coupled or bipolar supply lines.
The 600 W rating at 10/1000 µs defines the energy the part can absorb in a single surge event without failing. For a 12 V rail, the 19.9 V clamp voltage means the protected circuitry sees a maximum of about 20 V during the transient — well within the typical 30 V absolute maximum of many downstream regulators and logic ICs. The 31 A peak pulse current tells you the surge current the diode can shunt; ensure the PCB trace from the TVS to the transient source is wide enough to carry that peak without inductive drop or fusing.
No power line protection is claimed — this is a general-purpose transient suppressor, not a dedicated AC mains protector.
