400W bidirectional TVS in a DO-214AC package
It delivers 400W peak pulse power per the 10/1000µs waveform, with a 10V reverse standoff voltage and a maximum clamping voltage of 21.7V at the peak pulse current of 106A (8/20µs).
Above that, the breakdown voltage range starts at 11.1V minimum, guaranteeing the device begins to avalanche before the line exceeds the downstream components' absolute maximum. The clamping voltage of 21.7V is the worst-case voltage the load sees during a 400W surge — this is the let-through energy the downstream circuitry must survive. For a 12V nominal rail with transients, the 10V standoff leaves enough margin to avoid false triggering from normal ripple.
Package and mounting — DO-214AC (SMA) footprint
Housed in the DO-214AC (SMA) surface-mount package, the SMAJ10CA-TR shares the same footprint as hundreds of other SMA-packaged TVS diodes and rectifiers.
For current designs, this means no forced redesign from obsolescence.
