Automotive-grade Zener for transient protection
It delivers 600W peak pulse power (10/1000µs waveform) with a reverse standoff voltage of 6.4V and a clamping voltage of 14.5V at the peak pulse current.
The 6.4V reverse standoff voltage means the diode will not conduct at normal operating voltages up to that level, so it can sit across a 5V supply rail without leakage issues. When the transient exceeds the breakdown voltage (minimum 7.13V), the device clamps at 14.5V maximum, limiting the spike to a level that downstream 40V-rated or 60V-rated ICs can survive.
The DO-214AA (SMB) package is a standard JEDEC outline for surface-mount Zener and TVS diodes. The SMB footprint is larger than the smaller SMA (DO-214AC) variant, offering better thermal dissipation for the 600W pulse rating. No power line protection is claimed, so this is a signal-rail or low-power rail protector, not a mains-side device.
