For a 24V supply rail in an industrial controller or automotive body module, this part handles the typical load-dump or inductive kick transient. The 64.3V clamping voltage at 62A peak pulse current gives the downstream circuitry a hard voltage ceiling — the designer sizes the rail capacitance and TVS placement to keep the trace inductance from adding overshoot above that clamp.
