What this Zener TVS protects and where
It clamps transients on a 13 V nominal rail, with a minimum breakdown voltage of 14.4 V and a maximum clamping voltage of 27.2 V at the rated peak pulse current. The 400 W peak pulse power rating (10/1000 µs waveform) and 85 A peak pulse current capability (8/20 µs waveform) define the surge it can absorb without failing short. Packaged in a DO-214AC (SMA) surface-mount case, it is intended for overvoltage protection on automotive power lines, sensor inputs, and control module rails where AEC-Q101 screening is required.
AEC-Q101 and the operating temperature range
For a BOM destined for automotive or other high-reliability environments, the AEC-Q101 mark is the screening level that avoids the paperwork burden of an additional qualification run.
The DO-214AC (SMA) package is a standard surface-mount outline with a JEDEC-registered footprint. No exposed pad or thermal vias are required; the junction-to-ambient thermal path relies on the solder joint and PCB copper area.
