Capable is not qualified — this part has the PPAP-ready documentation an OEM tier-1 supplier must present during an audit. The bidirectional configuration protects against both positive and negative transients on a single 64.1V rail without needing two diodes back-to-back, saving board area in space-constrained ECU, BCM, and sensor-module layouts.
For production programs that require a second-source hedge, the SM15TY series includes other bidirectional 1500W variants at different standoff voltages, but the 64.1V / 134V clamp combination is specific to this order code.
