8Kbit SPI EEPROM — what you're working with
The STMicroelectronics M95080-WDW6TP is an 8Kbit serial EEPROM organized as 1K x 8 bits, accessed through an SPI bus at up to 20 MHz. This is the TSSOP-8 variant on Tape & Reel, intended for surface-mount production. The part sits in the M95080 family, sharing the same die and memory array with several package options. Typical applications include parameter storage, calibration constants, configuration data, and firmware lookup tables in industrial controls, instrumentation, and consumer electronics where small-footprint non-volatile memory is needed.
Supply voltage — one part for 3.3V and 5V buses
That saves a buffer or a second supply rail on mixed-voltage boards. The wide margin also helps during brownout — the memory stays accessible down to 2.5V, which is below most MCU reset thresholds.
SPI at 20 MHz — bus timing headroom
20 MHz SPI clock is the standard speed for this density class. It reads or writes a byte in about 400 ns, so a full 1 KB page reads in under 500 µs. For context, a 5 ms write stall is fine for configuration storage but too slow for real-time data logging without a buffer.
This part is not AEC-Q100 qualified — the M95080-DRMN8TP/K sibling carries that automotive grade with a wider -40°C to 105°C range and a faster 4 ms write cycle. For outdoor telecom, factory floor, or engine-adjacent electronics that stay below 85°C, this grade works. Above that, step to the automotive variant.
8-TSSOP with 4.40 mm body width. The land pattern is close to a standard SOIC-8 but with a tighter pitch (0.65 mm vs 1.27 mm).
ROHS3 compliant per. For dual-sourcing, the M95080-RMN6TP is a pin-compatible SOIC-8 variant with the same 20 MHz speed and 2.5V minimum supply — same die, different package.
