20 MHz SPI — throughput for parameter recall
The 20 MHz SPI clock lets the host controller read or write the full 8Kbit array in under 1 ms (ignoring page-write cycles). That is fast enough for boot-time parameter load in a PLC or VFD, but not for streaming firmware updates — the 5 ms page-write time per byte or page is the bottleneck for large writes. For comparison, a serial Flash at 20 MHz would sustain higher write throughput, but the EEPROM's byte-level erase/write granularity avoids the block-erase overhead Flash requires.
Lifecycle and sourcing — active, no EOL pressure
That means the factory continues production with no announced last-time-buy or end-of-life date.
