The STMicroelectronics M95080-DFDW6TP is an 8 Kbit serial EEPROM organized as 1 K x 8 bits, accessed over an SPI bus at up to 20 MHz. It stores configuration data, calibration constants, and firmware parameters that must survive power cycles.
At 20 MHz the serial clock delivers a raw read throughput of 20 Mbit/s, enough to stream a full 8 Kbit page in under 0.5 ms. For a control loop that logs fault codes or trims offsets at boot, the bus transaction finishes before the MCU's watchdog times out. The SPI interface is standard mode-0/3 compatible, so no special timing tweaks are needed on most Cortex-M or PIC hosts. The 5 ms write cycle is the bottleneck for back-to-back page writes — budget that delay between successive write commands.
The 8-TSSOP body (4.40 mm wide, 0.65 mm pin pitch) is a compact footprint for space-constrained PCBs — think sensor modules, handheld instruments, or interface dongles. Surface-mount assembly; the narrow pitch calls for a fine-tip iron or a reflow profile with a 0.2 mm stencil aperture.
