64 Kbit I²C EEPROM in a 1.7x1.4 mm package
1 MHz I²C bus — timing budget for the firmware team
The 1 MHz clock frequency (Fast-mode Plus) allows data transfer up to 1 Mbit/s. The write cycle time is 5 ms.
No need for a separate regulator or level translator for the VCC pin — just tie it to the local rail. The I²C pins are also tolerant across that range, so the bus voltage can match the supply. For battery-operated gear, the low minimum voltage means the EEPROM stays alive even as the battery drains toward 1.8 V.
Package: 5-UFDFN (1.7x1.4 mm) — field-swap considerations
The 5-UFDFN package measures 1.7 x 1.4 mm. It is a surface-mount part.
